• Captured first career ASCS National Tour win with a victory in his preliminary night feature at The Short Track Nationals

• Tied for 2nd overall in Fast Time Awards with The World of Outlaws (6) while establishing track records at Fulton Speedway and Jackson Speedway. Sam also re-lowered his own track record at Deer Creek Speedway

• Earned 11th in The World of Outlaws Driver Standings

2009

• Catured IRA feature win at Eagle Valley Raceway and set a new track record in time trials at the facility

• Finished a career best 2nd against The World of Outlaws at Lone Star Speedway; the track owned and operated by The Hafertepe family

• Qualified for his first career Knoxville Nationals
