Bergman Bags Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Week Win At 81-Speedway

Bergman Bags Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Week Win At 81-Speedway

Bryan Hulbert – PARK CITY, Kan. (August 13, 2020) On an exceptional racing surface at 81-Speedway, Washington’s Seth Bergman railed the cushion for his fifth overall victory on the 2020 season, and first of the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Week powered by Smiley’s Racing Products.

On the choice of lines and strategy, Seth stated, “My plan going in was to just pound the top and if someone showed me a nose or I felt threatened, I’d move down. I’d been watching it all night and knew it was coming in, but running 360’s, it’s all about miles-per-hour so I just stayed up top.”

A much-needed win for Seth, the star to Sprint Week has been and up and down ride.

“It’s been a frustrating two nights. We did have a good run at Lakeside, then last night was rubber, so it’s been pretty quiet going up and down the road the last few days. We have high expectations and we haven’t met those, so tonight we were really focused, and it paid off.”

Getting the jump over Harli White on the start, Bergman was quickly joined by fellow Washington shoe, J.J. Hickle. Keeping within a handful of car lengths on the Corridor Electric No. 23, the pair found traffic near the race’s mid-point. Forcing Hickle off the hub, that allowed Seth to begin steadily pull away from the No. 63.

“I was eager to get to lapped traffic. I felt like I made pretty good time through them and luckily, none of them were really leaning on it so it gave me a clean line which really helped,” explained Seth.

Lapping into the top ten in the closing laps, the final trip down the front stretch saw Bergman stretch his lead by 5.155-seconds. J.J. Hickle held on to second as Colton Heath fought over the closing laps with Harli White to hold onto third. White settled for fourth with Oregon’s Tanner Holmes completing the top five.

Riley Goodno crossed sixth with John Carney II picking up 10 spots and $100 as the Tiny's Truck Repair Hard Charger. Michael Faccinto was eighth, Brandon Anderson ninth, and J.D. Johnson in tenth.

With a field of 38 on hand Thursday night, Bush’s Chicken Quick Time and $100 went to J.J. Hickle. Schure Built Suspension, Griffith Truck and Equipment, Brewer Trucking, and Old School Racin' each put up $100 for Heat Race winners. Brandon Anderson, J.D. Johnson, Michael Faccinto, and Seth Bergman each earned wins. Mid-Mo Equipment Dash wins, and $50, went to Seth Bergman and Harli White. The C-Feature was topped by Jeremy Campbell with the B-Feature won by John Carney II.

The Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Week powered by Smiley's Racing Products continues Friday, August 14, at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla. Pits open at 4:00 P.M. with Grandstands opening at 5:00 P.M. Hot Laps at 7:00 P.M. with Qualifying to follow at 7:30 P.M. (CT). Admission is $20 with Kids 10 and under free.
