Stoner honored ,Franz back in VL, G3-721

*On an amazing race evening the family of Arnold Stoner honored Arnold in a ceremony on the top of turn 2. It was a pleasure to be a small part of Arnold’s life and he will forever be a part of 81 Speedway.

  • We started the night off with the Allied battery stock cars, What’s old is new again!! When you see the always recognizable orange on the 86 it screams Franz and on this night Brian had all the bugs worked out and led wire-to-wire in the feature and “parked it”in victory lane. Good to see success in their race program and we look forward to hosting the Dalice Franz Memorial race/ Newton Night on Sept 20th. The race was not as easy for 2nd on back as Beau Davis, Joey Richmond and Mason Schell all battled for position. When the checkered flew it was Franz , Richmond, Beau Davis, Schell and Kyler Kemp 5th.
  • Next up we featured the Poorman Auto Supply USRA B-mods and in his first ever visit to 81 Speedway Kerry Davis piloted the #68 right down to victory lane. Kerry a long time racer at the Lakeside Speedway dropped in and looked right at home. Track Champion Slade Mohr and Mr. Unstoppable Tyler Kidwell battled for the runner up spot for many laps while David Young and Josh Lanterman were locked into their own battle for top 5 finishes. They finished in that order and the points are a bit closer as we inch towards the season end.
  • On this night the Wickham Heating and Air Conditioning mini-stocks had 5 new drivers make their season debut here at the speedway. Another first timer to the track was Alex Boyden seemed quite comfortable as he drove his 4D mini-stock to a heat race win and a Feature win! We hope to see them all back here battling it out as the season progresses. It was “BiGRace” Karson Keeler 2nd, David Wagner 3rd, Justin Esparza 4th, and self proclaimed “locally hated” Rustin Allen rounding out the top 5. Thank you for guys for participating in the 2 Twisted Productions Bat Race !! Fun, fun to watch.
  • We ended the night with an all family affair as the Alternative Pest Management USRA Modifieds hit the track. Pole sitting G3 Brendon Gemmill waved bye-bye to the field early but his father Troy was doing what he could to stay close in the 721, After a few yellows the field had to stay in the throttle and keep pace at blazing speed. Tyler Davis battled hard with Henry Chambers and Dan Powers and Wyatt Gaggero were gaining track position and all wanted that top 5 finish. At the end it was a Gemmill family 1-2, Henry Chambers 3rd, Tyler Davis 4th, and Dan Powers 5th.

We hope you all enjoyed the fan appreciation and kids autograph night! We loved seeing Logan’s Landscape and Tree Service handing flags to all the kids on the front stretch!
