NEW WEEK, SAME DAY: Corey Day Triumphs Again with Midweek Money Series at Riverside

NEW WEEK, SAME DAY: Corey Day Triumphs Again with Midweek Money Series at Riverside

The second Midweek Money Series event of 2024 went down in similar fashion to the first - with 18-year-old sensation Corey Day parking the Driven2SaveLives #14BC in victory lane once again with Kubota High Limit Racing.

After topping the first of 10 races included in the mini-series last week at Oklahoma's Red Dirt Raceway - a $23,500 victory - the Clovis, CA kid followed it up with another $20,000 score at Arkansas' Riverside International Speedway on Tuesday, April 23.

Rolling from the pole position after winning the FK Rod Ends Dash, Day actually played chase for the opening eight laps as his de facto teammate, Tyler Courtney, led from the jump in his Clauson-Marshall Racing, NOS Energy Drink #7BC.

On Lap 9, Day whipped the JMR/CMR, Sander Engineering, Driven2SaveLives #14BC around the outside of "Sunshine" and secured a lead he would never relinquish.

That's not to say he ran off into the night unchallenged, as the emergence of Tanner Thorson kept the young gun honest late in the running as the #88 pulled alongside and even almost slid in front of Day while they battled thick lap traffic.

Ultimately, Day held on for his third win in the last five events with Kubota High Limit Racing - expanding his lead in the Midweek Money Series standings and jumping by Brent Marks' #19 for third in the overall championship standings.

Minden, NV native Tanner Thorson earned a career-best runner-up finish, coming to the checkered 0.827-seconds behind Day. It's the second podium of 2024 for the Rod Gross Motorsports #88 and propelled him to fifth in the Midweek Money Series points.

"Sunshine" Tyler Courtney fell to third, still good enough to claim his seventh podium in the opening 10 races as he continues to hold the championship lead with Kubota High Limit Racing.

Brad Sweet and Cole Macedo rounded out the top-five with Spencer Bayston, Chris Windom, Brent Marks, James McFadden, and Derek Hagar closing out the top-10.
